Croatian Amor has become one of the most significant figures from Scandinavia's rich ambient talent pool. Blending massive glacial synths like sound baths that wash over listeners and a unique style of the emotional future garage. This could be the perfect jumping-off point for those who have yet to dive head-first into Croatian Amor's extraordinarily lush and personal back catalogue. Armita (2023) features Scandinavian Star, an artist who mixes ambient and trance-influenced techno and two vocalists known for beautiful compositions and mixing acoustic and electronic elements. Soho Rezanejad fuses vocals and a folky, synth-rich palette. Meanwhile, Alto Aria uses vast swells and strings to complement her voice.
Armita is icy ambience. The production has beautiful nods to nature as Croatian Amor emulates frozen mountain tops, icy rivers, and chilling winds. The track perfectly balances the dull thud of future garage drums against sombre chords, leaving plenty of room for the vocalist to work their magic. A whole heap of folk influence is spread throughout the single. Iranian vocal trills join reverbs so cold they chill the soul. Powerful vocal performances throughout add a sense of spirituality. The electronic effects melt away into the background as heavy vocal layering adds stakes to the epic buildups. Subtle Reese bases inject that futuristic edge, a classy way of doing things. The artists clearly intended to keep a very human energy to the recording. While there is a lot of vocal pitching and audio effect usage, it is all done in service of their vocal performance.
