Herton - Aphrodite
Herton, a fresh face in the techno scene, stands out with his unique approach to music. His DJ skills, creativity, and energy surpass many of his peers, and he effortlessly weaves personality into his sets. His latest release on Get In Line follows his standout performance at a Boiler Room, which has rightfully elevated his status. It's time to delve into the production of this emerging Belgian talent.
Aphrodite is a to-the-point party track that is more tool techno than a big room hit. If you're hoping for an immersive track peak time bomb, this isn't exactly it. However, for those skilled enough to juggle three or more tracks, Hartons' extensive knowledge has informed this release, creating some Stella tool techno thoughts perfect for a blend. The title track, 'Aphrodite', slides perfectly into any high-energy and free-flowing set. Herton Draws from a wealth of knowledge, taking elements from different musical genres from all parts of history and combining them into this sound design workout. Elements of Detriot, hardcore and dub all make an appearance. 'Mood Operator' is the more flushed-out and fully formed track. Layers build upon each other, giving it a thicker musical pallet to work. The additional text atmospheres and parts, so much more life track techniques that we went that we didn't see on Aphrodite.
A critique of Herton's Aphrodite feels useless as the real vibrancy and genius of the tracks come out when they're mixed. Wheel tool technical sounds flat or repetitive when listened to on its own, and only does it come alive when in the hands of his skilled selector. It is a super Detroit-influenced boxer punch with some rumbling cake drums that keep things moving up top. Heron Is one to watch out for, whether behind the decks or in the studio. This Detroit-leaning production style and an appreciation of the old school is a beautiful blend that will shine.
