Objekt - Chicken Garaage
Chicken Garaage is the second released from Objekt's highly anticipated new labe, Kapsela. With a new creative outlet, Objekt is flourishing in a newly founded freedom and creativity. The Chicken Garaage EP will strike a chord with fans of Objekt's wonky weirdness. The title track is a seemingly no-nonsense two-step scorcher until it breaks down with a bonkers baseline. It's great to see objects having a bit of fun, especially when paired with his production know-how, which is not second to none. Chicken Garaage is reminiscent of the 'Theme from Q', they both share a pretty whimsical and wonky style that will pop off in clubs. But more so than anything else, it's laced with heaps of early garage and 138 dubstep.
Initially, 'Worm Dance' sounds much more serious until you notice the wiggling 808 bassline wriggling between the drums. This B-side is more with a chuckle rather than an out-and-out laugh as Objekt buries the joke deep in the sub-bass, which ironically would make it land much better at shows. Objekt's fondness for a break is prevalent, and their character, flair and a bit of grit oozing out of every syncopated jitter. The grizzly atmospheres that join the party towards the back end find a home alongside tracks like 'The Goose That Got Away / Tinder Box'.
Both tracks are phenomenally decisive. Objekt usually opts for more complex structures comprised of several different sections and elements. This time, we get down to the nitty-gritty: what's fun, far-out and what will make people dance. This refreshing new direction will resonate with new and old fans as the new label head starts strong with two heavyweight releases under the Kapsela imprint.
