Physical Therapy & Patrick Holland - Daymaxxing

EP

Clear out those sinuses and take a deep breath. Physical Therapy and Patrick Holland are here to elevate your summer. Daymaxxing, released on the Allergy Season imprint, owned and run by Physical Therapy, is the best-named label for an EP like this. It is the music equivalent of getting hit in the face with a super soaker while trying to eat a burnt sausage sandwich with nothing, but this is my smell of coals filling your nostrils.

From the outset, 'Daymaxxing' lulls you into a serene enjoyment. Physical therapy and Patrick Holland have made a truly enthralling, classicly tinged house track sleeping with emotion and A phenomenal sense of presence. While the whole EP is full of sleeping yet groovy summer energy, 'Daymaxxing' takes it up a notch to deliver A deep and floaty look into the house. Croaky bases and electronic cleaning synthesisers deliver a smooth lifting experience complemented by methodical breakdowns that draw you into a more relaxed, deep-house journey. Do incorporate tropical tweets and bird songs into a more lackadaisical tune that sounds like the Stoner cousin of 808 state's 'Pacific 808'.

'7 AM Drive' is a club-conscious offering with bouncy bass and elastic melodies circling the crystal-clear percussion. It is hard not to notice the terrific energy balance Between the club roots and the sun-kissed tan this track is trying to give you. The duo harnesses a sense of rhythm with stop-start tension that builds and releases like small waves crashing against the shore. Both artists looked backwards to bring the genre forward as those familial strings from Derrick May's 'Strings of Life' seep into your consciousness, mellowed out into groovy open our party. The duo uses breakdowns effectively to create a release, like a slow-motion splash into a pool somewhere in Greece.

Alternatively, '7 PM Drive' is a smoky, jazzy number to begin with before embarking on a complete exploration into the downbeat electronica of Groove Armada. The door invites you to let go of everything with expensive pads and a thick rumbling bass Coupled with delicate pianos that cut across the high frequencies, inviting images of floating across a vast sea with the breeze in your hair. It is impressive how cohesive the whole EP sounds while the duo trends through different genres and can still put their stamp on each. No doubt the sample heard in both the 7:00 AM drive and 7:00 PM drive is a certified earworm that won't leave you anytime soon.

Daymaxxing is a transcendent collaboration between physical therapy and Patrick Holland. They deliver a Pimm's entwined EP that will surely become an essential summer for years to come. From front to back, the duo incorporates vibrating strings and delicate piano melodies like wispy clouds above warm throbbing bases that give a sense of escapism. With each subsequent listen, I found myself in the thrills of rose-tinted memories of holidays and festivals alike.
