Antigone - No Country For Old Men
My affinity for Antigone continues to grow as I explore his latest release, No Country for Old Men (2026). This three-track EP showcases his ability to blend hard techno with more organic, meditative sounds. Returning to TSSRCT for this project, Antigone's music feels both tribal and elevated.
The tracks take listeners on a surreal journey, combining non-fiction and fantasy with an organic flair reminiscent of artists like Polygonia and early JakoJako. I'm particularly captivated by the weighty drums that evoke a jungle expedition, subtle echoes that add depth, haunting vocals that create a ghostly atmosphere, and the driving heartbeat rhythm that keeps it engaging. Every inch of the record sounds grounded yet imaginative, blending squelching rhythms with an almost organic sound, like a soaked tropical leaf. It serves as the most energetic track, reflecting Antigone's intent to invoke a physical response through music.
Rødhåd, Antigon - Artefacts
TSSRCT is a new label created by Hadone and UFO95, with its first release featuring their collaboration under the Civic Instruction alias. The inaugural EP, The Future Remade (2025), showcases hypnotic techno tracks designed for immersive experiences. The label emphasises exclusivity and meticulous craftsmanship through ultra-limited vinyl releases, which include an engraved metal plate.
Artefacts is the second limited run, featuring renowned artists Rødhåd and Antigone. Rødhåd's track 'STRUKTURES' combines powerful percussive elements with organic sounds, while Antigone's 'OSTINATO IV' offers a more restrained, genre-bending approach that includes electronic and ambient influences. Together, the limited release aims to energise without overwhelming, capturing the essence of tracks that resonate with DJs and their audiences.
