Acid Avengers 027

EP

The Acid Avengers label and event series has become the one-stop shop for anything 303-related since its inception in 2016. The sub-label of Tripalium Records has become synonymous with all things acid in no small part due to its distinct and whimsical art direction with every release and shared EP that combines two artists into one release, typically two tracks each. This formula has been a winner for the French label as they attract more and more talent. Roy Of The Ravers and Jerry La Flim are taking the reins this time, showcasing their distinctive styles and the 27th iteration of the Acid Avengers series.

Roy Of The Ravers blends crunchy and distorted percussion with the straight-up analogue acid grooves he's best known for on '303 AM'. The track still shows great creativity as Roy dances between acid patterns and percussive loops. The second track, 'Dreams Of Laithka', is undoubtedly more abstract, with digitised squelches fighting past heavy grooves. Jerry La Flim comes flying out the gate with new-school hyper-acid sounds. 4x4 breakbeats lay the backdrop as dark, acidic convolutions mangle throughout 'Whistle Man' before slowing down with 'Where Are You Now'. The jazzy, triphop-inspired chill jam is a perfect end to the record.
