Dopplereffekt - Dyson Sphere

Although it is hard to pin down the specific identity of Dopplereffekt, many sources point to Gerald Donald having a large part to play in some way. If this is the case, Dopplereffekt has detached itself from Donald's most notable other artistic work, an underground group some of you may know, Drexciya. Where Drexciya dreams of the futuristic world and underwater, Dopplereffekt moves towards the stars and a retro-futuristic fantasy.

The 2020 self-released single given re-release status by Clone Records in 2023, Dyson Sphere, is a testament to this nostalgic sci-fi mindset. The music is slower, more expected of Kraftwork than the modern-day Electro you would likely hear. It rambles with no aggressive cutting edge. Instead, what's left is a rather sleepy Electro cut filled to the brim with dazzling stary synthesiser and robotic arpeggiator bloops. The wandering bassline emulates the nomadic nature of space travel. Although not made for the clubs, this slower, more melodic Electro is a breath of fresh air, continuing the storytelling roots of some of electronic music's greatest pioneers.
