Bringing a crisp edge to modern electro, Echaskech drops a pair of tracks on the Balkan Vinyl imprint full of production value and polish. Some of you may already be familiar with Echaskech due to their tracks being played consistently on BBC6 Music and the impressive amount of page time provided by publications such as Drowned In Sound and The Crack. ‘Shadow Freaks’ retains the dank and dirt of more classic analogue tracks through clever sound design and intentional overdrive. A gritty bassline carves like a hot knife through butter flavoured with pops of cybernetic vocals. ‘Shadow Freaks’ tickles that classic electro itch. ‘Appetance’ is a roller that aims to trap dancers in a spell with slowly evolving arpeggios and breath-taking pads. The whole experience is a lot more ethereal and cosmic.
