CAIV - Shamanfreude 2.0
CAIV is the partnership of Camille Altay, a visual artist and composer who cut their teeth in the Chicago drum & bass scene. Alongside Israel Vines, a producer and serial remixer working between techno and drum & bass genres. The latest single, Shamanfreude 2.0, is a tasty teaser to the upcoming Dwellers (2024) release. It combines rugged, tribal drums that signal a no-nonsense attitude going in. Taking a sharp left turn as thick bass drops build tension before the duo catapult the track into a locust of cicada simultaneously fluttering. Its synchronicity is unnerving, fading back into obscurity, showing the vastness of the swarm. The sound design is top-notch but remains club-ready due to the duo's history and dance music. Shamanfreude 2.0 is a delightful blend of highly experimental yet functional techno. Look out for the full release coming February 2nd.
