Fi McCluskey - Die Young (Hannah Holland Remix)
Hannah Holland's charismatic nature is evident throughout her productions as she traverses the changing landscape of London's nightlife. She does so with finesse and admiration for a multitude of genres. Holland manages to escape the trappings of mediocrity while still being commercially viable to the mainstream through a slick combination of underground rawness and poppy charm, specifically through her extensive remixes.
In her latest remix, Hannah Holland collaborates with Fi McCluskey. Her fabulous alt-pop blends socially conscious topics into electronic-infused ballads. Fi McCluskey's Die Young gets flipped on its head as Holland introduces retro 90s production techniques emulating the hard-hitting mashup style of that era. As Holland increases the tempo and percussion, she introduces a much more repetitive sound through vocal and guitar chops, which makes her version scream like a more dramatic Fatboy Slim track that has taken inspiration from the shoegazey grunge of the early noughties. Holland captures that early morning festival mystique, allowing the baselines to chug and those guitars to reverberate endlessly into the rising sun.
