Peder Mannerfelt, Roman Flügel - Big Ball Variations
The Peder Mannerfelt Produktions label adds two heavy-duty bass weapons to its discography, variations of 'Big Ball' from the 2023 EP Nervous Horizon. This release is Peder and Roman Flügel teaming up for a record with some severe bass weight. The term face melter is thrown around quite casually underground in music, but it seems fitting for this pair of tracks. The low-end heat from this release is hot enough to melt a Barbie like a child drying her hair in a microwave. They sizzle and distort the further through you listen. The first is a remix by Roman Flügel, a booming stepper with a wicked presence. It's a testament to his production that he makes a cowbell sound so hard. Flügel Manages to perfectly position the sound of this release between high-octane action and half-time madness, bringing a classic dubstep sound. The second track is by the man himself, Peder. It is a gritty wave of energy that pulses with the intensity of solar flares. The Big Ball (No Bounce Mix) is almost totally devoid of percussion, allowing the sound design to take centre stage. It twists and convulses into new, more complex passages. This record is for lovers of experimental sound design if harsh noise isn't your thing while being accessible and driving enough to draw in more crowds from the bass music and dubstep worlds. The Big Ball Variations are not a record to sleep on.
