Skin Teeth - Void ‘93 / Knuckle Bone

EP

Hectic halftime madness is all you need to know about the new Skin Teeth release at West Norwood Cassette Library. MOAB-level breakbeats kick off the EP as 'Void '93' brings new levels of funk to the game. Heavyset kick samples rattle while syncopation on the snare begs for footwork. ‘Void ‘93’ attacks with a flurry of blows eagerly designed to knock you off balance. Underneath a repetitious chorus of "feel it", breathy chords add extra dimension and infuse the record with rave sensibilities. Channelling the old-school rollers on this one, Skin Teeth gives another glimpse into musical heritage. Matching the vibe of the former but bringing some level of ambience, 'Knuckle Bone' builds tension before rocketing in with more impressive breakbeat stylings. The second drop is all action with reversed melodies, heavy chops and a truly ragga attitude. This modern take on breakbeat is crisp and clean, with just enough rhythmic grit to really get a dancefloor going.
