Moerbeck - Hexer

Moerbeck's passion for darker, thematic-based techno has been evident since his first releases on the Vault Series in 2010. These dub-inspired techno cuts provided a solid foundation on which the Berlin-born artist honed his craft. This thematic obsession continued to become the driving force of Moerbeck's imprint Code Is Law, and it's on this label that we see his latest single. Hexer (2024) is fear incarnate. Moerbeck channels over a decade of Code Is Law inspiration into a monstrously haunting distorted techno track.

Scuttling, whispers, and monotonous pulses sound like demons trying to pull themselves out of the Ouija board. This monstrous blend of nightmare trance is as frightening as it is thrilling as Moerbeck depict the sounds of your sleep paralysis demon through stunningly creepy sound design. The whispers were one thing, but there was unbelievable pressure when the distorted kicks burst into the track. An ominous pan flute lead acts like a lure, slowly enticing you into the anglerfish's bony jaw as you succumb to those monstrous kicks again. Hexer Is a fabulous display of Moerbeck's horror electronica and an excellent advertisement for the Code Is Law imprint. If you like basement raves, you'll love this.
